Atkins Nutritional Approach
The Atkins Diet focuses on the idea that people gain fat by overconsuming carbohydrates. This idea was started by Dr. Atkins back in 1972.
Paleolithic Diet
This diet focuses on the idea of eating foods from the pre-agricultural period. Low carbs are inherent within these food types.
Southbeach Diet
Although creator does not label this as a low carb diet, the diet focuses on good carbs (low glycemic index) and fats (low in saturated fats).
Sugar Busters
This diet focuses on the idea of eliminating foods with refined carbohydrates, as well as foods with a high glycemic index.
The Zone
The creator, Barry Sears, doesn’t label his approach as a diet. He differs from the Atkins Nutritional Approach by focusing on a balanced insulin level.
