Instead of going after the changes in one big blow, why not take the challenge of your weight loss program in small steps. This way you will not be overwhelmed by your goals and you can chew small bits at a time instead of one big chunk that is difficult to swallow. Small steps are easier to replicate in the long run and will allow you to achieve a more effective long term loss.

This is a more conservative approach into imposing change. Finding the motivation to see the weight loss program through is just as important as setting the goals of the program. One cannot start today and then have a week off for the sake of the social calender. Don’t start until you are ready to in your mind. Picking a space in your diary where you don’t have any unhealthy commitments for a few weeks is a good way to help you with this. Reminding yourself of the benefits of losing weight is one way to assure that you will stick to the program no matter what.

So how would you make those small changes that you would employ from day one? There is no real secret – take in less fat and burn more. First is how you eat. One way is to reduce weight is to reduce your food intake, or at least reduce your carbohydrate intake. If you cannot abruptly change your eating habits, at least reduce them until such time that you have made the significant reduction to maintain the weight you are targeting for. Usually though you can eat plenty of food as long as you maintain a healthy diet.

To assist further with your weight loss furnace you will need to incorporate some exercise into your life. You don’t need to turn into an olympic athelete overnight. Start off gradually – perhaps just parking the car a bit further from work. Doing some rigorous housework or gardening on a regular basis might help you kill two birds with one stone. Or find a hobby to help you exercise – such as badminton for example.

Finding the motivation within yourself or with the encouragement of the people around you will surely help break unhealthy habits and replace them with healthier ones. If you stick to the program, work on it and believe in yourself then you will be making great strides. Keep your goals in mind and in less time than you think your small steps will carry you a long way.
